Plant Controller (Philadelphia, PA, US)

Summary


The position supports finance & accounting activities within the plants and provides guidance to bakery and sales stakeholders on matters of proper accounting practices as outlined by Corporate and the Regional Controller, while ensuring that the plant financial statements accurately reflect operations results and financial position. Additionally, this position requires knowledge competency of all on-the-job activities that may have a direct or indirect effect on product safety, legality and/or quality, and requires frequent interaction with the Shared Service, sales team and leadership at the primary work location.


Job Responsibilities


•Prepares weekly, period, and quarterly consolidated results of operations, with analysis to sales and supply chain management

•Communicates with key finance stakeholders on a day to day basis to determine and provide instruction operational reporting requests that should be prioritized and completed

•Supports all plant accounting activities including fixed assets and inventory tracking, distributor accounting, etc.

•Works with both internal and outside auditors to accumulate and consolidate information needed for audits and interim reviews

•Reviews and approves various accounting and operational aspects of the business, as a member of senior management, for implementation of ongoing projects with SAP, process improvement initiatives, and Corporate consolidation programs

•Provides pro-forma impact of plant decisions regarding things such as changing production environment, new product, etc.

•Reviews financial statements for the bakery for the following assurances: that revenues and expenses are being recorded properly according to standards and plans, that balance sheet amounts reflect the appropriate values and liabilities, and that accounts are being used according to their intended usage

•Ensures that plant assistant controllers / trainees are properly trained in the following areas: proper budgeting techniques, proper use of balance sheet and income statement accounts and cost centers, and skills for measuring and improving plant performance

•Coordinates the filing of amended tax returns for distributor earnings

•Practices and complies with all Company policies and procedures (EEO, Harassment, Safety, Sarbanes Oxley, etc.)

•Performs other duties which are deemed by management to be an integral part of the job, including but not limited to fulfillment of work schedules, adherence to attendance policies, and other applicable operating rules, policies and procedures

 


Desired Experience


•3+ years’ experience in Accounting

•Knowledge of GAAP and SEC reporting requirements


Desired Education



  • Bachelor’s degree, Accounting preferred
